I'm not familiar with LPQ1000, but if it understands PCL, that will help
your transition.
For lasers including HP9000s (what version of HPUX are you running on
that?;-), on MPE, "Environment files" are the ticket; they're nothing
but PJL/PCL setup strings, full of PJL/PCL escape sequences, and invoked
via
file myoutput=lj9000,1,1;env=envfile
Specifically to your question, the PCL sequence you want is
[esc]&l#D where [esc] is ascii(27) and where D::=Cursor Lines per
inch # (1,2,3,4,6,8,12,16,24,48)
and if that's all you want to do, create envfile containing esc&l#8 and
try it.
