In response to user feedback such as this, future CSY versions of Apache
starting with 1.3.14 will use a BINDFW-like distribution architecture
(http://www.bixby.org/mark/bindix.html) that won't stomp on your customized
stuff in htdocs.
You will have to copy your customized files over to the new htdocs directory,
but at least they won't be stomped on any more in the old htdocs directory.
As an alternative configuration scheme, modify DocumentRoot to point to
someplace completely different than htdocs, and you won't get stomped on and
will never have to copy.
The moral of the story is be very careful about editing files you receive from
HP, because we reserve the right to overlay them with newer versions.
