Our site is using FTP to and from the 3000 for a variety of
local and off-site file transfer operations. Got the word
today that our 5.0 patch to fix the MPE FTP server 60 sec
timeout problem should be finished tomorrow. Thanks to
the HP lab for their efforts on this; it will solve a major
problem for us with several off-site Internet users.

HOWEVER, it now appears there is at least some chance
we will have to try and use Kermit for one special case to
receive data from one vendor site back in Ohio (as before,
won't bore you with why ----- just remember, this is the
Government.......). We would like to avoid using Kermit
even for this one case, but if we can't:

Our last attempt to run Kermit on a 3000 was in the CM
days back in the late 1980's. Anybody have any recent
3000 experience with the latest version of Kermit; know
what the latest version is; or know where we can get it ??

Thanks,
Ken Sletten
