Deny's suggestion should meet your requirements.

The DDS4 (better known as DAT40) offers faster performance than the
DDS3 - albeit not as much faster on a 918 as on a faster system - and
higher reliability.

The pin converters as described by Denys will be required.

You could also opt for a DAT72, but there are no real performance
benefits over the DAT40, and you will be able to read and write one
fewer generation of tapes than the DAT40.
