No - you don't.  Actually, there is no Domain Name Serv/er(-ice) available
for the 3000 that I know of. :(
 
You don't mention what device you are on that you are using to try to
connect to the HP3000.  Presumably it has TCP/IP networking software, so
will probably have either a reference to a DNS (located elsewhere; e.g. on a
Unix Box) or will use a HOSTS file.  In either case, the thing to remember
is that you are not connecting to the HP3000, but to the TelnetExpress box.
The two things have different IP addresses!  Simply ensure that the
'computername' you are trying to connect to has a corresponding entry in the
HOSTS or DNS with the IP address of the Telnet Express box.  That should be it.
