Duane,

Your first point fits right into the argument of reviewing the OpenMPE
concept. Just because MPE may not fit into HP's new business model, or have
a high enough margin for them, doesn't mean that it is not a viable
operating system and can't make enough of a profit to support itself. You
second point, from a later email, also supports this concept. If people
evaluate each product, including OpenMPE, on its own merit and pick the one
that makes best sense, then MPE will frequently fit that bill.

I'm not saying OpenMPE is a given and we should put our heads down and plow
blindly forward, but it should be calmly and rationally reviewed and
considered, hence the new discussion group at email address
"[log in to unmask]".

Thanx,
        Jon

"However, I think its unreasonable to expect a company
to continue to manufacture a product if they determine
it doesn't fit into their business strategy."

and in a later email...

"I evaluate each product on its own merit and applicability for the task at
hand.
If it makes sense to acquire it then I do. Otherwise I don't."
