Simon, even though you sent me this e-mail off-list I am going to share my
findings with the rest of the world..

You wrote...I was trying do duplicate the error you have encountered.
Do you have the BACKG process running (and if yes, do you have HELLO task
enabled)?

No, we do not have the BACKG process running on this box. The following is an
excerpt from this morning...

I logged on and switched the console to my Reflection session and then opened
another Reflection session using VT-MGR and here is the message...
CONSOLE HAS BEEN SWITCHED FROM LDEV 20 TO LDEV 29 .
MIST:8:34/#S3258/495/LOGON FOR: "WES,MANAGER.SYS,PUB" ON LDEV #31.
** NS/3000 INTERNAL ERROR IN RFA; Job: #S3258; PIN: 530; Info: 70
- Error: 11; Could not receive on socket
- Socket error : 64; REMOTE ABORTED THE CONNECTION.
8:34/#S3258/495/LOGOFF ON LDEV #31.
After logging off, I then opened a session using Reflection and logged on using
TELNET and here is the message ...
8:35/#S3259/495/LOGON FOR: "WES,MANAGER.SYS,PUB" ON LDEV #31.
8:35/#S3259/495/LOGOFF ON LDEV #31.
As you can see we do not get the NS/3000 errors.
99% of our users are logging on using Minisoft and they post the same way. Here
is an excerpt using Minisoft and an NS/VT connection...
MIST:8:45/#S3260/495/LOGON FOR: "WES,MANAGER.SYS,PUB" ON LDEV #31.
** NS/3000 INTERNAL ERROR IN RFA; Job: #S3260; PIN: 489; Info: 70
- Error: 11; Could not receive on socket
- Socket error : 64; REMOTE ABORTED THE CONNECTION.
8:45/#S3260/495/LOGOFF ON LDEV #31.
I logged off and opened Minisoft using TELNET and here is the message...
8:45/#S3261/495/LOGON FOR: "WES,MANAGER.SYS,PUB" ON LDEV #31.
8:45/#S3261/495/LOGOFF ON LDEV #31.
We have a welcome screen that pops up right away and then pauses when it gets to
SECURITY/3000, even though we do not use SECURITY/3000 on our manager.sys
password. We cascade through a rather complex series of logon udc's but that
cannot be causing the errors.

Can this be fixed by Vesoft or is there a problem with VT-MGR and NS/VT? I guess
it's not really a problem because the connection is made and we are logged on to
the system. Why should I use VT-MGR as opposed to TELNET? Is one more stable or
provide more functionality than the other?

Thanks for looking in to this. I appreciate any response you may have and I will
gladly provide more info if required.

Dear Wesley Setree,

I was trying do duplicate the error you have encountered.
Do you have the BACKG process running (and if yes, do you have HELLO task
enabled)?
