There is an article on Computerworld at

<http://www.computerworld.com/search/AT-html/online/9611/961119comdex.html>

that describes what may be the most science-fiction-like-but-really-
possible use of technology I've ever read. (I wasn't around with the Wright
brothers.)

IBM calls it a Personal Area Network. They used the human body to
transmit what was really non-electronic data -- in this case, a business
card -- so that it appeared on a computer monitor.

The article describes how IBM has built-in security so that data
does not get transmitted when accidentally bumping into people
on the street.

Bizarre.
