- This seems to prove the point and pretty much confirms that some of
  the survey mechanisms used in the past were not using the right channels.
  In my past 10+ years with HP there have been n+1 surveys that have been
  circulating in HP's internal mail... often relying on other parts of the
  organization (like field support) - to forward the questionnaire to
  the customers;-  ehhh... what if customers and HP's e-mail systems
  were not connected to each other...  ...print the survey and mail to
  customers???  Wait for reply and re-type into hpdesk...  hmmm...
  or ask the field people to start calling their customers to find out
  about something that might be completely unknown to the field at that
  point in time.  Not to mention that field people are often busy enough
  with their daily duties to try to fill every survey that pops in.
 
  I think that internet is a great channel for soliciting user input to
  future projects/product designs and that we (HP) should use it much
  more than we are using!  This takes us directly to the end users
  without any middlemen..
