I have it in my head that the U.S. Marine Corps places fidelity within their
own ranks above that to country and God.  I can't remember the preferred
order, but...

"Corps, God, Country"
or
"Corps, Country, God".

In which case, and assuming that Fred's "Semper Fi" was not facetious, these
two ideas are not incongruous.
