In 1988 our local HP office (Charlotte) donated an HP 3000 Series 42 to
the Wingate Library for our card catalog system.  Had HP not donated the
3000, the library director may have selected another platform.  In 1991
they upgraded to a 927.  So, HP came out pretty good in the deal... ten
years of hardware and software support and one upgrade.

Unfortunatley, the 927 is being replaced (this month) by a SUN box.
