Man, this almost bit my buns!! I was doing a SUPRTOOL extract to use as
both a delete driver file, and a backup file. I did not realize that you
can't COPY a temp file to an HFS directory (other than
/ACCOUNT/GROUP/source_file).
Since I used a script and ran that script as a USE file in SUPRTOOL online,
the process kept running (read as deleting), after I missed the error
message about the COPY command, and thus, lost my backup file (thank
goodness I was on a test DB).
So, the command:
COPY *ITEMS,/DEVRNS/SHAHAN/BACKUP/ITEMS/CLEAR_ITEM-LOCN_ALT-ORDFROM
Got me this error:
Temporary files cannot be copied to directories. (CIERR 9148)
So, for those of you who are neophyte POSIX folks like me...maybe this will
spare you future misery.
:-)

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in
a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside,
thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming:
-- WOW!!! What a Ride! --
