You can call Stom Thurmond what ever you want, a CONSERVATIVE he was NOT.
Let's just say he was the first RINO.
From his biography, (btw, I love how the left leaves things out.)
"In 1933 Thurmond was elected to the South Carolina Senate and represented Edgefield until he was elected to the Eleventh Circuit judgeship."
Please notice no mention of party affiliation.
"He switched from the Democratic to the Republican Party in 1964"
Let's just say he failed to shake off some old behaviors.
I prefer to think of him as the poster boy for "Term limits".
