You are basically correct in your two options. For the long, ugly story
please see the "net.digest" columns in the July and August issues of the
3000 NewsWire (also available at 3KWorld.com). The short story is this: If
you want to use native MPE network printing, your printer MUST understand
and respond to PCL. Few, if any, character/impact printers not made by HP
support PCL. Many non-HP laser printers do, however, support PCL.
