Considering that I spend 95% of my time lurking, my solution might apply to
so many complainers - just go to your list settings and set them to read
on the -L list without ANY email. Since I registered using my private
rather than employment email address in order to be able to participate
from home (unlike at least *one* of my fellow employees - *grin*), this
serves the dual purpose of letting me scan the index for OTs of possible
interest (and since I can't resist posts authored by old friends, there is
generally something of interest in nearly all of the OTs), and keeping my
home email from detonating through over-use.
I suggest that this method might serve to redirect some obvious tensions to
more productive and constructive activities.
