We have a 928 running off a bunch of (old, noisy, C2490AM) JBOD. We
are going to replace these with a Model 10. My install powers have
grown weak, so I would like to run my tentative procedure by you:
- Assume Model 10 is already connected, and PSEUDO devices created.
- Take full system backup.
- Using SYSGEN:
- delete all existing LDEVs pointing to the JBOD
- create new LDEV 1, 2 pointing to Model 10
- KEEP
- Generate CSLT.
- Reboot system
- At IPL, set new primary boot path (Model 10 LDEV 1).
- At IPL, do INSTALL from CSLT.
Once the install is done, I should have a bootable OS image on LDEVS 1
and 2, which are in the MPEXL_SYSTEM_VOLUME_SET.
When I install from my CSLT, am I going to get all my installed
Powerpatches too, or am I going to have to re-apply?
At this point, I will go back to SYSGEN, create LDEV 3, create a
private volume, and restore all my user stuff.
As I said, this is just my sketch of what needs to happen. I'm sure
I'm leaving out important stuff. Educate me! Thanks!
