Sorry to come in on this plug with another plug, but for many years, as presented by the late Robin Foley , we have software that will copy an image database to SQL server, and keep it live in parallel to the 3000 application.
This does not require expensive third party services, just a software licence for Linkway Aline.

If you have recently migrated your ManMan application and are still running your 
HP3000 for lookups, we can move the data in your HP3000 ManMan databases to a 
Microsoft SQL Server database.
 
Our method is as follows: 
·         First, we create a Microsoft SQL Server database which mimics the 
layout of the HP3000 ManMan datasets
·         Second, we unload the Image data sets into flat files
·         Third, we load those flat files into the related SQL Server tables.
 
We can also help with other aspects of the migration process.  We know your 
staff will be busy learning the new system and may not have the time to do data 
extractions.  By adding us to your migration team, we can also help with mapping 
the ManMan data to the new application, and we can support the day to day 
operation of ManMan on your HP3000.  This frees up your staff to fully commit to 
the migration without interruption.  After your data is loaded into a relational 
database, we can then optionally do further transformations of the data, as 
dictated by the mapping process, and we can then load that transformed data into 
your new application.  

 
If you have already shutdown your HP and want to load your archived data, we can 
provide that service.  If you have your last full backup, that’s all we need.
 
We are able to do this quickly and affordably.
