So no comparable alternative is out there for the Europeans. They just
drive little cars. I wonder why people in the US think that a new
alternative is just around the corner if Europeans have struggled with
this for years.

I have seen all sorts of technology on YouTube, but GM and Toyota must
not be watching.

My fear with what we are doing is that we see the very rich driving cars
and flying planes. You know guys like Al Gore who made money off of
movies. My other fear is that we will see a lot of unemployment.

I calculate the below listed calculator I will break even in 82 months
if I buy a good mileage vehicle.

Kent

If petro or Diesel prices are so high in Europe, how come no one has

Gas prices have been so much higher in Europe than in North America for
a
long time (probably forever). The alternative that most European's chose
was
to design, build, and buy much smaller and more fuel efficient cars than

typically used in North America.

On another note, here's a gas guzzler calculator that tells you how long
it
will take you to break even by trading in your gas guzzler for a more
fuel
efficient car.

(I sold in my gas guzzling VW Rabbit for $1 and bought a $150 bicycle
about
15 years ago. I figure I paid it off in a month or two based on 1993 gas

prices. :-)
