Folks,

We have experienced occasional failures of an ftp 'PUT' from one of our
corporate Unix systems to our MPE/iX production box -- namely,
FSERR 105 - BAD VARIABLE BLOCK STRUCTURE.

The script on the Unix side uses the following syntax:
     put ${UtlFileDir} PIMSIF.FTPBCIN.CHC;REC=-1101,,V,ASCII;DISC=650000.

I'm concerned about a potential problem in the MPE file build parms. I've
located a reference in HP's ITRC Knowledge Base about an old, old problem with
odd record lengths on variable files causing this error, but that's the only
clue. Other references in the KB point to file corruption following a system
failure. The Unix admins can't furnish any documentation other than the above
re: the error condition, but they can usually retry the transmission a couple of
times until it completes.

Does anyone know what might be causing this error (lack of free disk space
*might* be an issue ...) ?

TIA,
----
