Folks,

some news I found out during trying to port ReportMagic to HP-MPE (failed
so far in Perl):

* Analog and ReportMagic are available for PCs (Win / Mac).
     See http://www.analog.cx and http://www.reportmagic.org

* So, basically, there is no need to port this S/W to HP-MPE ...

BUT

* you will need to transfer BIG Apache logfiles to your PC!

BUT

* ReportMagic's input file is small!

An example: Apache LogFiles 5,968kb, ReportMagic Input File 16kb !

So the following approach will work the best:
* Install Analog/iX on your HP e3000.
     Package available at http://www.hillschmidt.de/gbr/analog.htm (version
5.01; current is 5.21)
* Install ReportMagic on your PC
     Package available at http://www.reportmagic.org/download.html (version
2.13)
* Run Analog/iX on the HP e3000 to create the input file for ReportMagic.
     Change the analog.cfg file this way:
     # ReportMagic
     OUTPUT COMPUTER => this is the magic line!
     OUTFILE /APACHE/report.dat                    => or another place/name
     and run it.
* Transfer the small report.dat file to your PC via FTP / Samba / ...
* Run ReportMagic on this file on your PC.
* Enjoy your Web statistics on your PC.
* Optional: Transfer back the report files (for above example: 524kb) to
your HP e3000 Web Server.

I will add this info to my webpage as well very soon - in any case and
especially if I cannot migrate ReportMagic to HP-MPE!

Enjoy your weekend, best regards, Andreas Schmidt, CSC, Germany
