I took a look at the code for RESTORE (since I couldn't imagine why or how
RESTORE would know or care that you had used mirroring once :-) and
found a couple possible errors. Did you see either of these messages?

RESTORE WAS UNABLE TO CREATE GROUP "x" IN ACCOUNT "x"
MIRROR FOR VOLUMESET "x".
CIERROR xxx (S/R 1968)

MEANING: The "ALTGROUP x ;HOMEVS=<volset>" failed, the CIERROR
would help understand why.

RESTORE WAS UNABLE TO CREATE ACCOUNT "x" MIRROR
FOR VOLUMESET "x"
CIERROR xxx (S/R 1971)

MEANING: Could not create the account on the system volume set because
it already exists there.

In both cases the CIERROR that prevented the operation should be shown
and would give a clue as to the real problem.

If you are seeing S/R 1971 (which seems likely) then RESTORE is trying to
create the accounting structure on the system volume set but it's already there.
This would make sense since you replaced only the user volume sets. I had no
idea the error would call that the 'mirror'... would throw me too.

Now, here's where I show my ignorance; I am not certain which combination of
RESTORE options would cause RESTORE to create only the missing accounting
structures on the new user volume set. The brute force method would be to
manually create the accounts & groups on the new user volume set and let
RESTORE fill in the files.

This is all a wild guess so you should post the errors you are seeing and someone
out here will know the answer I'm sure!

I hope this is of some help,

Bill
