Is it an RS-232/422 line? If so, is there a problem with
just making a "Y" cable that doubles the "send" line,
so that one is the "master" console, and all the commands
can be input on it, while the other is a "slave" which
simply echos all the lines, but the keyboard is effectively
disconnected?

I don't know that you can have two actual consoles live...
even with remote console turned on, iirc, the main console
then becomes "read-only", and the remote console is the
one that can execute console commands (if I am wrong on
that, forgive me, the last system that I was an SM on was
a 70).
