Two questions:
Question 1:
I seem to remember someone at IPROF saying something about a POSIX problem
that causes Samba/iX to incorrectly report to the PC the size of a
non-bytestream file, causing the PC application to hang waiting for data
which will never come.
Does anyone know if this problem has been fixed? If it has been fixed,
what release and patch do I need to apply?
Question 2:
I've been trying for some time to extend Samba/iX beyond the HP 3000's LAN
segment with no success. I've heard it can be done, but I can't seem to
get it to work. The HP 3000 is on a different network from the majority of
the users. The HP 3000 is on 192.x.y.z and the users are on 164.218.213.x
and setting
remote announce = 164.218.213.255/HP3000
doesn't seem to be doing what I thought it should do. What do I need to do
to get the PCs on the 164 network to be able to see the HP 3000's Samba/iX
shares?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
John
