(are you still using 2.0.3 now that 2.0.7 is offered?)
> a) Why is <samba> set to GUEST.SAMBA and not MGR.SAMBA?
You might want to try "root preexec" versus "preexec" to see
if that makes a difference. I believe that one is executed before
and one after the setuid() between "job user" and "share user",
the latter probably being GUEST.SAMBA in your case.
> b) Why is <share> set to IPC$ (only 4 times out of 89 did it have a
><share> name)?
I'm not a Windows networking guru, but I believe that IPC$ is
some "control channel" for requests like share enumerations and
the like (smbclient -L or net view).
> c) Why is <guest> set to GUEST.SAMBA in all cases?
Didn't your config specifiy guest account = GUEST.SAMBA?
Lars (maybe I missed something obvious)
PS: Don't confuse the Samba 2.0.7 on www.sambaix.com with the
2.0.7 version supplied by HP. They are way different.
