So there we go and treasure hunt, dig up and convert the Legacy apps. So, it doesn't surprise me that Top people at HP don't even mention MPE. They leave the dirty work for the contractors. So we profit from their "good/bad vision".

i'm infuriated by these words. (i'm not directing this at 'dsilva', btw, because their observation are right on the mark....) i think mpe system managers can or are(!) mpe's own worst enemy. how many mpe system managers have done *nothing* about setting up the posix shell/environment for their programmers? how many have not installed the gnu package or perl?

since barry ('allegroid' durand :-) said this on the list, i'll quote him....(with my emphasis...)

(and for newwire subscribers...re-read scott hirsch's article in the july issue....)

having thought about this for a long time....i'll say -- mpe system managers *have* to promote mpe within their own companies! who else is going to install the new software? (in the pre-6.0 days...) who's going to set up the posix environment? who else is going to tell the programmers about what's new with mpe?

before we start pointing fingers at hp for not supporting mpe, we should take a look at the fingers pointing back at ourselves. we whine and moan endlessly about 'we can't run this software package....we can't run that software package....'. and yet when someone actually does the port...how many of us go and install it...or even use it? - d 'tuning up for hpworld'
