Thanks to all those who replied. This is good stuff for someone trying to
pick their way through this stuff for the first time. Lars, thank you
especially for the link to your site. It was very helpful. Currently, I am
in the mode where each answer only brings more questions. Obviously, there
are lots of choices and the pros/cons that each has for any given
application.

I am still missing a big piece in my understanding. Can anyone point to a
good resource that can explain the difference between multi-processing and
multi-threading? Am I correct in assuming that one can choose to
multi-thread and/or multi-process at the web server level, the fastcgi
level, the servlet level, and/or the application level (that is to say, if
you were so inclined, the code you write)? How much is available on the
3000? I have not yet found where these issues are discussed specifically
with the 3000 in mind.

Thanks again.
