The last one to hit the US was Ike in September 2008 and that was a Cat2,
with winds of 95mph. We spent the night (midnight to 6:00AM) in the west
side eyewall and the wind sounded like a raging river. Power was out for
three days at the house, thank God for the generator. Hang in there, our
thoughts are with you.

We are still 5 hrs from the peak of Irene and we already have 50+mph wind
gusts and 3+' rain...
All on the east coast stay safe, this is a real good one. Thank god the
storm is only a cat1. This could be much worse
