We are pointing out in this thread, that there are two issues which make the
life of a software supplier more complicated.
1- HP C/iX has had and still has difficulties going backwards in releases.
2- ALLBASE/SQL has problems going backwards in releases also. Come to think
of it, it sometimes has problems going forward in releases.
These two issues take together by let us say, a utility written in C and
making use of ALLBASE/SQL pre-processors, is in for a rough support time.
SPLASH! is probably immune to most of the vagaries of the first type.
However, I am not aware of an SQL pre-processor for SPLASH! Which is one of
the reason for my using C in the first place.
The only languages supported by HP-supplied pre-processors, of which I am
aware (caveat), are: C, PASCAL, COBOL and FORTRAN. No, there is not BASIC
pre-processor, nor one for RPG, FORTRAN/66 or SPLASH!.
Kind regards,
Denys. . .
