Hi Neil,
don't know what version your running but I have seen similar examples. I
might be going over things you have already tried if so apologies.
a) If you attempt to over-write a subfile created in a previous version v7
over v6 some very strange errors are produced, b) if you attempt to
over-write a subfile with more records than it was originally created for.
So if your original request had a process limit of 1000 and you wanted to
update the subfile in a second or new pass that should over-write and set
the new process limit to 2000, it will fail. I have seen this identical
message doing just that. Remedy was to use either a different subfile name.
NB I cannot remember if this only occurred with permanent files, I have seen
some pretty weird messages with Temp files too !
Good luck
Gary

It could be a sort scratch file or output subfile allocation problem.

As far as I recall, QTP calculates the size of it's sort scratch file based
on the "string" of records mentioned in eth access statement making up the
record complex, and the process limit.

In the case of output subfiles, it uses process limit to size the file.

Try reducing the size or process limit until it fits into 4GB...

Regards

Neil

We received the following in a QTP routine.=20

There was a file error on the sort work file.

EXTENT SIZE EXCEEDS MAXIMUM (FSERR 106)

How do we fix this. Is it a file equation for additional extents? Or =
have we just

gone beyond the file limits. =20
