I try not to remember my encounter with SPL. It was a single huge
program with many modules compiled together to do an entire application.
It looked like it should be easy enough, but it definitely blew my
theory on how a data processing professional should be flexible enough
to do whatever he/she wants to do, just adjusting to the differing
syntax and functionality of the language. For me, there was never a
learning curve, just a wall. No matter how little of a change I made
to a program, I could depend on a pile of compile errors to work
through. I did the right thing and admitted defeat and moved on.
