One day the Pope was speaking in New York at a Hotel. After the speech
he realized he needed to be at the UN building in 15 minutes and he knew
his motorcade couldn't get him there.
Someone suggested he take a cab. He exist the hotel and hales a cab.
He tells the drive, "get me to the UN building in 15 minutes!!"
Cabby explains, "I can't do that. If I get caught speeding again they
will take away my license and my livelihood."
The Pope thinks for a minute then asks, "what if I drive you there, that
way you won't get cited?"
Cabby - "Okay by me" - and they're off!!
A short while later the cab is pulled over by a police officer.
The officer approaches the driver. He sees the Pope then looks at his
passenger, looks back at the Pope, scratches his head and says, "stay
right here, I'll be back shortly."
The officer returns to his car and calls the shift commander.
Officer - "commander, have you ever sited anyone important before?"
Cmndr - "Yes, but it depends on how important they are. Is this person
more important than the Chief?"
Officer - "Yes, I think he is"
Cmndr - "Is he more important than the mayor?"
Officer - "I think so?"
Cmndr - "Is he more important the the governor?"
Officer - pausing, "Yes, I think he would qualify"
Cmndr - "Is he more important than the Pres. of the U.S? !!!"
Officer - "I really believe he is."
Cmndr - "WHO DID YOU PULL OVER?"
Officer - "I'm not sure." pause "but he's got the Pope driving him!!"
