In all seriousness, I believe it is HP's plan to wait long enough for people
to commit to whatever migration plan they desire (be it to HP or another
hardware platform), at which point OpenMPE will be meaningless. Meanwhile,
HP will make soothing noises about OpenMPE (such as "We're still
investigating that option" or "We need to dialogue with the interested
parties") and by not making a decision, the decision will have already been
made.
It's been six months, folks. If HP was the least bit interested in
releasing MPE to any form of open source, we should have seen something by
now. Just look at the traffic on the OpenMPE discussion group of late - if
it wasn't for spam, there wouldn't be any traffic. At this point, I think
if you are waiting for HP to take a wise step, then you are wasting your
time. You should be planning your migration. Soon, and very soon, the 3000
and MPE will be yet another footnote in computing history. HP is only
interested in getting people off of the 3000 and the sooner the better.
