And when they get it right, it just raises expectations...

I had previously ordered PC components from NECX, and was both impressed
with their service, and happy with their products and prices. One of their
niceties it that you can quickly and easily check the order, with their web
site providing a tracking number hyperlinked to the UPS tracking site (I
would assume that this is the case for any shipping service that offers
tracking). I was able to plan for the time needed to install the components.

Later, I urgently needed another motherboard, which they listed as back
ordered but available. I did search for other vendors, and everyone with a
price at all close to theirs was also back ordered, so assume that this was
due to the manufacturer, and not some failure on the part of NECX. I ordered
from them and within two days, I received notification that the product
would ship. But, while their web site showed my order as having shipped,
there was no tracking number. Finally, I called customer service, who called
that distribution center, who confirmed that it had shipped and provided me
with the tracking number. Using that, I found out that the product was going
to be delivered within a couple of hours.

IIRC, I ordered on a Friday evening, and had the product by the next
Thursday afternoon. So, did I have a good experience, or a bad experience?
Had the need not been more urgent, I probably wouldn't have much cared about
the delay on the back order and the uncertainty on the shipping.
