I agree; unix and unix-like stuff (posix) provide some extremely useful tools,
which should not be ignored.
 
I think that this list is, in general, 'understanding', and quite willing to
embrace 'new' technology that will help get the job done.  What we object to is
the notion that 'new' technology is necessarily better, and the 'old' stuff
should be thrown out.
