I add  <esc>&a5L to my pcl setup environment.
This is set left margin 5 columns from left.

example: <esc>&l0o1s4c121F<esc>(10U<esc>(s0p16.5H<esc>&a5L
This does 120 lines of 132 chars in portrait mode. (great for source
listings -- at least for me)
