I read those books in a special survey class titled
something like:

"The Coming Technological Sociological Crisis"

Here is the weird part. I wrote a paper for the class
in which I postulated that computer technology evolution
would create a society where everyone would get connected
to their computer, become isolated from society accelerating
the downfall of society as we knew it at the time.

Of course that didn't come to pass, but what did I know as at
the time I was chem/math major :-)

It wasn't until 2 years later that I transfered to another
university and became a comp-sci major...
