Unless PCL printers (the HP5000 perhaps as a lone exception due to its
heritage from the 2680 DCS printers... but IIRC implemented in the software
driver for it on MPE) have some marvelous new capability in this regard,
they don't have the (unassisted) capability to put more than one logical
page per physical page. The problem is that something in the PCL data
stream has to control the pagination... and a simple file header (which is
all that "network printing environment files" really are... as opposed to
ENV "real" environment files) can't do it alone.
Formation [see http://www.rocsoftware.com for more info] can generate
spoolfiles with this capability. I'm sure there are other software
solutions that provide this, but I don't know of any freely available ones.
