If I understand your question correctly, you may not need to use any HP
terminal emulation. If, for example, the applications now run on a UNIX
computer using VT100 emulation you can use that on the HP 3000. You do not
need to change that aspect of the software. What does the application do
and how is it implemented (language, terminal emulation}?

Subject: 2392A or 700/92

bringing some software to the HP3000. The software requires programs on
remote systems (say NT or Unix) connecting to the HP3000 via TCP/IP and
communicating with say Cobol applications. The question is: do I need to
implement both a 2392A emulation using the NT/VS protocol and a 700/9x
emulation using the telnet protocol to be applicable to the majority of
HP3000 systems or are these protocols independent of the application running
on the HP and hence only implement one of them (say the 700/92).
