Hello All,

Not a HP3000 question but a Cognos question and I hope somebody can help.

Called IBM for support but it's a slow process of sending emails back and forth.

Using Cognos 8.41.F on a Windows XP machine with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and
Microsoft Server 2005 express. I need express for the application to run. Will
not run without it. Their database is created using the Express version.

I am able to attach the database and when I go into SQL Server Management Studio,
I can see the data, I can edit the data, I can delete the data.

If I am in Quiz and try to detach the table, I get a error message that it is in use
so I know Quiz is accessing it so I know my ODBC connection is ok. The test on the
ODBC connection is always good.

When I go into Quiz, I get the following message when trying to access the table...

Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]

C:\InfoScanJobs>quiz

dbo.DataTableID IN INFOID
dbo.History IN INFOID
dbo.IDPic IN INFOID
dbo.sysdiagrams IN INFOID

this is what my powerhouse dictionary says...

database InfoId type ODBC &
high fill hex "7A" &
open "InfoId" &
owner dbo userid "sa" password "xxxxxx"

of course, that isn't the real password.

I can access all other databases and tables running on this machine with Cognos.

IBM's response to me was:

"Remove the quotes from around the open name. They should not be necessary unless you're using special characters.

What happens if you remove the userid and password? These should be in your ODBC definition.

If that doesn't help, try removing the owner."

Tried that, and and it didn't recognize the database.

Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks
