And although the 989/650 is a powerful beast, we do tend to use it, or we wouldn't have purchased it. The intent of the compress=LOW coupled with the INTER option, is to keep the data flowing down the SCSI bus while not wasting system resources. I guess the right answer depends on the effectiveness of the compression algorithm in the DLT drive verses the MPE compress=high algorithm. [...]35_6Aug200214:46: [log in to unmask] |

Alan,
In addition to removing the primary boot drive (Ldev) on path 52.6, did you
make the drive on path 52.5 the new LDev 1 in sysgen?
Thanx,
Jon

Subject: [HP3000-L] Primary boot disk has died... New Install?
Hi,
I have a HP 918 which has 3 disks:
56/52.4
56/52.5
56/52.6
the primary boot disk 52.6 has died so I have
removed it. I have backups so a new install
of MPE/iX 6.0 is ok... so I load up the 6.0
SLT DDS tape and boot from that and then
ISL> install
primary boot disk was changed to 52.5 the
MPE/iX loading message starts and then
Beginning INSTALL...
then nothing... for hours...
the disks show up fine with MAPPER.
AUTO reboot and search is off.
the DDS3 tape is 56/52.0
Any help please.
Alan
