Help!

Looking for any insight anyone might be able to provide.

We just upgraded to PP4 this past weekend and all went okay yesterday but
suddenly today we are having problems.  I've currently got the following
conditions:

1.  System showing 12 batch jobs executing yet only 11 jobs are listed in an
EXEC state.  Numeous batch jobs now waiting in queue.
2.  Users trying to logon but stuck in a hold mode.  A SHOWJOB indicates an
asterisk next to their logon as if the logon is in progress.  Some users now
showing multiple logons in progress.
3.  Console currently hung and cannot transfer control to another VT session
as it also hung.

I've already called the Response Center but as usual they had no engineers
available and will need to call me back but in the meantime I've got a
system that seems to be going nowhere fast.
