no, i'm not asking hp to be responsible if *i* install a newer version
of <x> but otoh hp's jobs don't need to be quite so brain-dead as to go
and wipeout something that's already in place.
the official supported version of <x> is *always* going to be behind
what's currently available. and it will always be up to individual
companies whether or not they install/use a newer version than the
'official' version. but it's not rocket science to make a smarter
