The HP3000 doesn't speak RIP or listen to RIP, and the underlying NETXPORT
architecture isn't suitable for doing an easy port of something RIP-aware
like gated.

I agree that it would be nice if RIP was available.  In my own local
topology I sidestep the whole issue, because my 3000 is on its own dedicated
subnet and so just one default gateway will suffice.
