I'm not sure this is possible, but I've been asked to gather some information. I don't really know how to go about it in an efficient manner, so I'll put the message I got before this group and see if anyone has any ideas. I'll gladly answer any questions you have, that is, if I can answer them. Here is the request I received.

"As part of the process in defining needs for the rollover to JD Edwards (if it happens), we need to better define user information so that we can properly license the product. I am looking to gather this information in two different ways for validation purposes.

"The first way would be to actually pull a user profile report from the HP3000 that defines by department and user what applications that they have rights to. In this, I would need to know if the user is query only or a full-blown user, and I would also need to know login frequency or maybe something like total login time to the application.

"The second way would be to start monitoring the system to see the actual daily usage by application and run this process for a few weeks including a month-end close. What I'm looking for here is concurrent user count as this may well be the way we license the product."

FYI, we have VESoft, DBGenrl and SOS/3000 in the way of 3rd party software available, but I'm not sure any of them will do what is wanted. I can get the list of what users have rights to from VESoft, but as far as the rest, I'm not exactly sure if they even know for sure what they are asking. Any ideas are welcome!
