Subject: MPE COPY in POSIX
Hi all,
I was copying some files while in MPE from a POSIX
directory/file to
an MPE file. I was a bit unnerved when I realized that the regular
check by
MPE to see if the receiving file already exists was
circumvented...ouch!
Is this the way MPE is supposed to work when accessing a POSIX
type
file? I'm aware that in the shell, a copy is not forgiving, but I was
under
the impression the while in MPE, MPE should act as always?
COPY /DEVRNS/DATAWORK/CMF_ITEMS/ITEM-ATTRIBUTES_PRN,TRANSFER
COPY /DEVRNS/DATAWORK/CMF_ITEMS/ITEM-ATTRIBUTES_PRN,TRANSFER
As in the example (cut-paste from live system), MPE just did the copy.
:-(

Hmm he says lets try it. On 7.5 system
:LISTFILE MYCOPY,6
Non-existent MPE named file "MYCOPY.MB.DEV". (CIWARN 920)
:COPY /EDITRAN/IBMFTPIN/FFBA70F6FCA8C5B1C1C4._IE,MYCOPY
:DO
:COPY /EDITRAN/IBMFTPIN/FFBA70F6FCA8C5B1C1C4._IE,MYCOPY
Purge old "MYCOPY.MB.DEV"?Y
:DO
:COPY /EDITRAN/IBMFTPIN/FFBA70F6FCA8C5B1C1C4._IE,MYCOPY
Purge old "MYCOPY.MB.DEV"?N
No copy was done. (CIERR 9113)
Perhaps you have some file equate or temp file monkey business involved.
