There was a posting today in comp.os.vms that said OS/400 was
a menu-driven system for former users of IBM's System/3x line.
*nix is a religion (Satanic cult ?) with many sects, such as
Solaris, HP-UX, AIX, Tru64, Linux, *BSD, et.al. Command line
was designed for a Model 33 TTY, hence the cryptic commands.
There's a site that compare *nix to Windows:

The UNIX versus NT Organization

For VERY small values of "tolerable". A few of the gripes about
Windows NT/2000/XP:
o No standard way of restoring a backup to a "bare metal" new disk.
o SID crap, although the SID can be changed.
o No standard RELIABLE way of gaining remote access. A friend's son
went on a jihad at his employer's, replacing Windows servers with
Linux boxes in remote (as in 12 time zones away).
o No way of forcing a crash dump, at least as of Windows NT
o No remote diagnosis of crash dumps, like Compaq's Customer Support
Center can provide for OpenVMS.
o Support - Microsoft, need I say more ? The four "R"s of Microsoft support:
Retry
Reboot
Reinstall
Repeat
You can call Microsoft for support, but have that credit card handy.

There's some talk by Microsoft of pushing patches to clients' servers,
to prevent Code Red type of plagues. Be afraid, be very afraid.

Microsoft providing service ? Only in the animal husbandry sense.
