Wirt's number for Summit credit unions is a little low, but isn't too far
off if you are only counting "InHouse" clients (credit unions who own their
own HPe3000). This doesn't include the other couple hundred which are
"OnLine" clients (whose data is housed on an ACCOUNT on an HPe3000
owned/operated by Summit at one of their sites).

I'd also question the number of credit unions. Y2K mergers took a fair
chunk of them out of the game. Anyway, I'd say the total number of Summit
credit unions is more like 500-600. I haven't asked in sometime, but that's
the range. Of course, in the credit union industry there are other
indicators which are far more important: assets under management, number of
members served, number of the largest 100 or largest 25 credit unions who
are the vendors' clients, etc. The last time I read information in Credit
Union Magazine on these (and a few other) indicators, Summit ranked as
either number 1 or number 2 in every catagory. That was a couple of years
ago, but their standing has not changed dramatically since then, and
Summitis owned by a company that owns two of the other key players in the
credit union marketplace anyway. Summit may not have thousands of clients,
but they're doing pretty well with those they have.

Short form: there are much better statistics you can use to show how well
the HPe3000 has been for the credit union industry than the number of credit
unions who use it
