Bruce Senn writes (and reminds me of the reason I just *love* this
list):
>I am curious to know how a cable, terminator, or card can kill a disk
>drive. Does the card send out a message to "crash your heads into the
>platter"? Is the drive not able to defend itself from the rogue con-
>troller? Can the terminator or the cable change "read sector x" to
>"kill yourself, you little disk drive"?
Apparently, the answer is yes, as the SE even mentioned this possibility.
Now, whether the drive is actually bad, or the controller reports the drive
as bad is another question.

Don't even get me started! Our 918 is *still* running on 2 drives after
3 visits from the SE. This is another thing that I don't remember
happening with HP-IB.
