"Fire damages Palo Alto home of computer pioneer

PALO ALTO, Calif. (AP) -- Billionaire Silicon Valley pioneer William Hewlett
was evacuated in a rescue stretcher from a second-floor balcony as flames
caused at least $1 million damage to his home. No injuries were reported.

The three-alarm blaze was extinguished just before midnight Sunday, about 3
1/2 hours after it was reported, fire Capt. Tony Spitaleri said Monday."
