Assuming you are using a DTC connection, you are limited to a fixed 256 byte
buffer with a DTC48. Once this limit is reached (that is, no read has been
posted from the host), the DTC will send an XOFF. If you need more than
256 bytes, I suggest you consider the new DTC models - dtc16mx, dtc16ix or
dtc72 as in this case all a port's rx buffer (typically more than 1Kbyte)
is available for TA data.
 
However, in either case the TA buffer size is not configurable.
